Anti-Dandruff series · Step 2

Dr Scalp Anti-Dandruff Conditioner

You have been putting product on your scalp for years and nothing at all on the rest of your hair.

Dull mid-lengths. Ends that have given up.

An anti-dandruff wash is built for the scalp, and everything below it gets ignored. That is the half of the problem nobody in this category sells you a fix for.

A rinse-out conditioner with macadamia oil, carrying the same herbal set as the shampoo.

  1. After shampooing, squeeze the water out of your hair first. A shaft already full of water cannot take anything else in.
  2. Work it through from mid-length to ends. Keep it off the scalp.
  3. Leave it a minute, then rinse. Longer does not do more.
  4. Every wash. This is the easy habit in the routine to keep.

Fit

Is this the right one for you?

One problem per series. This is the Anti-Dandruff series. If your main problem is something else, one of the other five will do more for you than this will.

Choose this if

  • You have used dandruff shampoo for years and your lengths look tired
  • Your hair is shoulder-length or longer
  • The ends are dull, rough or splitting
  • You are already using the Anti-Dandruff shampoo

Look elsewhere if

If your hair is short, put the $68 towards the tonic.

On a crop there is very little length to look after, and the tonic is where the flaking actually gets addressed. Come back to this when there is hair worth conditioning. And if you are not certain the flaking is even dandruff, the scan settles it before you spend anything.

Why it works

Everyone treats the scalp. Nobody treats what grows out of it.

Anti-dandruff shampoos are built for the scalp, and they have to be. They lift build-up, they carry actives, and most of them are drying by design. Meanwhile the hair below the scalp gets nothing, year after year. A dandruff sufferer with shoulder-length hair very often has a well-managed scalp sitting on top of hair that has been quietly neglected for a decade.

This one is for that half. The base is macadamia oil in a cetearyl alcohol emulsion, a proper conditioning cream, carrying the same herbal set as the shampoo: liquorice root, Coptis, Scutellaria, Forsythia, Artemisia and hawthorn, with tea tree and eucalyptus. All of them are on the ingredient list in the buy panel above.

What it will not do. It will not treat your flaking. It never goes on your scalp, so it cannot. That is the shampoo's job and the tonic's, and if you apply this to your scalp to try to speed things up you will only weigh your roots down. Mid-length to ends.

What it actually does

Four jobs, and treating dandruff is not one of them.

A conditioner used from mid-length down never reaches your scalp, so it cannot treat what is happening up there. Here is what it actually does.

01 · It goes where the treatment does not

Mid-length to ends

Years of dandruff shampoo aimed at your scalp, and nothing aimed at the rest. On shoulder-length hair the lengths are most of what people see.

02 · It conditions without weight

Macadamia oil in a rinse-out base

Macadamia oil, third in the bottle, in a cream that rinses clean rather than leaving a film. That is what keeps the roots from going flat.

03 · It carries the same herbal set as the shampoo

Liquorice, Coptis, Scutellaria, Forsythia

The same herbal group as the shampoo, positions eleven to eighteen. From mid-length down it will not touch flaking — it is there because the series is formulated as one thing.

04 · It is honest about the oils

Tea tree, eucalyptus, lavandin

Tea tree, eucalyptus and lavandin, plus alcohol and fragrance, all of it rinsed out. If your scalp is dry as well as flaking, start with Sensitive.

What to expect

Week by week, and the week that actually counts.

A conditioner is the one product in the routine you can feel the same day, which is also why it is easy to overrate. The signal worth waiting for is further down this list.

  1. Week 1–2It combs outThe lengths run through a comb without catching, and your scalp is exactly as it was. That second half is the point.
  2. Week 3–6The ends stop looking tiredLess roughness, less splitting. If your roots have gone flat, you are applying it too high. Mid-length down.
  3. Week 8The week to judge itJudge this bottle on the lengths. The flaking is the shampoo's and the tonic's business, and week eight is when we re-scan that.
  4. Month 3–6Hair that has caught upA decade of scalp-only treatment takes a while to undo. This is the point at which the lengths stop being the worst thing about your hair.
The Anti-Dandruff routine

Step two of three.

The shampoo lifts the build-up and settles the itch. This one looks after the lengths, which a dandruff wash ignores completely. The tonic is on the scalp between washes, which is where most of the change comes from. Used alone it still helps. Used together it is a system.

Not sure this is the right one?

Guessing is expensive. Your first treatment is $59 and it opens with an AI scan of your scalp, so the next thing you buy is the one you actually need.

Before you buy

Questions we get asked

No, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. It is used from mid-length down and never touches your scalp, so it cannot. It is here because years of scalp-only treatment leaves the rest of your hair with nothing.

Mid-length to ends. Roughly where your hair sits if you gather it in one hand and let go. Below the ears is a safe rule, and when in doubt go lower.

Not if it never reaches your scalp. That is the entire reason we are so specific about where it goes.

About a minute, then rinse. Longer does not do more. Squeezing the water out of your hair first makes a bigger difference than leaving it on longer.

Yes. It is a rinse-out conditioner with nothing in it that strips tone. If fade is your main concern rather than flaking, the Colour Protect series is the better fit.

Come and talk to us rather than quietly giving up. Eight weeks is the fair test, and a free scalp scan at either studio will show whether the scalp is moving or whether you are simply on the wrong bottle — if it is the wrong one, we will put you on the right one. And if you are holding something unopened, you can exchange it within 14 days of purchase for another product, or a treatment, of equal or higher value.
