Dandruff & Flaking
Flakes on your shoulders, and an itch you keep catching yourself at. This range works on the skin rather than the hair — cleansing, conditioning and calming the scalp so the flaking stops coming back a week later.
Three signs this range is yours.
Flakes show on dark clothes
You check your shoulders before you leave the house, and you have started choosing lighter shirts because of it.
The itch returns before the next wash
Comfortable for a day after washing, then tight and itchy again by the second.
Scratching brings more of it
Flakes lift the moment you rub the scalp, and the patch you scratched is the patch that flakes worst tomorrow.
Three steps, morning or night.
Used together the three build on each other. Used alone, each one still does its own job.

Step one
Dr Scalp Anti-Dandruff Shampoo
$68.00Wash. Work it into the scalp rather than the lengths, and leave it a full minute before rinsing. The active needs contact time more than it needs lather.

Step two
Dr Scalp Anti-Dandruff Conditioner
$68.00Condition the lengths and ends only. Keeping it off the scalp is half the treatment — conditioner at the roots is more of what the flaking feeds on.

Step three
Dr Scalp Anti-Dandruff Tonic
$108.00Treat. Onto a dry or towel-dried scalp, parting by parting, and leave it in. This is the step that holds the itch off between washes.
If you only use one thing, use this.
Dr Scalp Anti-Dandruff Tonic$108.00
Shampoo is on your scalp for a minute. The tonic stays on it all day, and that is where flaking is settled or not. It is the active step in every Dr Scalp routine, and the one to begin with if you are beginning with one.
Used once daily on a dry or towel-dried scalp. The shampoo and conditioner make it work better; they are not a substitute for it.
Flaking is a speed problem, not a dryness problem
Most people treat a flaking scalp as a dry one and put oil on it. That is usually the opposite of what it needs.
Scalp skin renews itself constantly, shedding cells so small you have never once seen them.
A yeast that lives on every scalp feeds on the oil up there. In Singapore’s humidity it has more to feed on, and it has it all year round.
The skin reacts by renewing faster than it can finish. Cells come away stuck together instead of one at a time — and clumps are what you see.
Then scratching breaks the skin, broken skin inflames, and inflamed skin sheds faster still. That loop is why flaking keeps coming back.
You are not shedding too much skin. You are shedding it too fast.
What makes it worse without you noticing
None of these causes dandruff on its own. All of them keep a flaking scalp flaking — and every one is free to fix.
-
Hot water strips the scalp, and a stripped scalp makes more of the oil the problem feeds on — wash warm, finish cool.
-
Rinsing the shampoo out after ten seconds means the active never got the minute it needed.
-
Sleeping with damp roots under aircon gives the scalp a warm, humid night — which is exactly what flaking grows in.
-
Oil or serum worked into the roots to soothe the itch is feeding it instead.
-
Scratching for relief breaks the skin, and broken skin flakes worse the next day.
-
Caps and helmets hold heat and sweat against the scalp — take them off when you can, and let it dry.

Each range is built around one scalp concern.
Have your scalp read before you choose.
A scan at either studio reads your scalp in four zones and tells you which range fits. It comes with your first treatment — $59, about an hour, and there is nothing you have to buy at the end of it.
Common questions
Each range is built around one scalp concern, and every product page says who it is for and who it is not for. If you are not sure, a scalp scan at either studio reads your scalp in four zones and tells you which range fits. You are not obliged to buy anything at the end of it.
You can start with one. The tonic is the active step in every Dr Scalp routine — it stays on the scalp and does the work between washes — so if you are only going to use one product, use that. The shampoo and conditioner make the tonic work better; they are not a substitute for it.
Flaking usually settles before anything else does, often within two to three weeks of steady use, and the itch can ease sooner than that. What takes longer is keeping it away — that depends on staying with the routine after it has started to look better, which is the point most people stop.
Neither. The yeast involved lives on everybody’s scalp, so there is nothing to catch and nothing to pass on. And washing less is not the cause — though washing with very hot water, or skipping washes to rest the scalp, will both make it worse rather than better.
Yes, and people often do — an oil-control shampoo with an anti-dandruff tonic, for example. What you should not do is layer two tonics at once. If you are unsure about a combination, message us before you buy using the contact details at the foot of this page.
Tell your doctor what you are using and follow what they say — that is the only answer anyone should give you here. Every ingredient is listed in full on each product page so you can take it to them, and our therapists will go through it with you at a scan if that is easier.
