Sensitive series · Step 1

Dr Scalp Sensitive Shampoo

A scalp that feels tight an hour after you wash it.

Itchy under aircon. Sore where the parting sits. Another new bottle every month.

Most uncomfortable scalps are not allergic to anything. They have been stripped, over-washed and sat in air conditioning for years, and every new shampoo restarts the cycle.

A daily wash built on OCALINE XP, chamomile water, centella and calendula, for a scalp that has had enough.

  1. Wet the hair with lukewarm water, not hot. Hot water is doing more damage than any shampoo you have tried.
  2. Two to three pumps into the palm, worked into the scalp. Pads of the fingers, never the nails.
  3. Massage gently and rinse. It lathers less than a supermarket shampoo, that is the sulphate-free base, not a fault.
  4. Every wash, for eight weeks, before you judge it. That last part is the one that matters here.

Fit

Is this the right one for you?

One problem per series. This is the Sensitive series. If your main problem is something else, one of the other five will do more for you than this will.

Choose this if

  • Your scalp feels tight an hour after washing
  • It itches under aircon and on long flights
  • It is sore where the parting sits
  • You have changed shampoo three times this year already

Look elsewhere if

Uncomfortable is not the same as allergic.

Most people who call their scalp sensitive have a scalp that has been stripped, not one that is reacting to a specific ingredient. That distinction matters here, because this range is scented and a genuinely allergic scalp needs something we do not make. Fifteen minutes and four photographs tell us which one you are, and the scan is free with any order.

Why it works

You have not found the wrong shampoo eleven times.

A scalp that has been stripped takes weeks to rebuild its barrier, not days. Buy a new bottle, use it for a fortnight, decide it is not working, buy another. Nothing you have tried has ever been given long enough to do anything, and the switching itself is part of what keeps the scalp raw.

The soothing group here is OCALINE XP, which is sea water and pumpkin seed extract, with chamomile flower water, centella asiatica, calendula, allantoin, escin, ruscus root and ammonium glycyrrhizate. They sit from position nine to twenty-one on the ingredient list in the buy panel above, in a sulphate-free, pH-balanced base. Add lukewarm water instead of hot and one bottle instead of four, and the scalp gets a chance it has not had in years.

What it will not do. It is not a hypoallergenic product and we are not going to call it one. It contains fragrance, lavandin oil and mint oil, all three named on the ingredient list you can read above. If you have a diagnosed contact allergy, this is not the range for you and no amount of soothing actives changes that. Book the scan or speak to a dermatologist. We would rather say that than sell you a bottle you will react to.

What it actually does

Four jobs, and being hypoallergenic is not one of them.

This is the page where a brand would normally tell you its Sensitive range is free from everything. Ours is not, and pretending otherwise would be the single easiest thing to catch us on. Here is what is actually in the bottle.

01 · It soothes, and that is a real thing

OCALINE XP, chamomile water, centella, calendula

Chamomile water, sea water and pumpkin seed extract, with centella, calendula, allantoin, escin, ruscus and ammonium glycyrrhizate. Eight soothing actives, between ninth and twenty-first on the list.

02 · It is scented, and we are telling you

Fragrance, lavandin oil, mint oil

Fragrance, lavandin and mint sit at thirty, twenty-two and twenty-three. Soothing is not hypoallergenic, and every product we make is scented.

03 · It cleans gently

A sulphate-free, pH-balanced base

Sulphate-free and pH-balanced. It lathers less than a supermarket shampoo, which on a scalp stripped for years is the point rather than a compromise.

04 · It asks you to stop switching

Eight weeks, one bottle

A stripped barrier rebuilds over weeks. We re-scan you at week eight, so you find out whether it is working instead of guessing.

What to expect

Week by week, and the week that actually counts.

This is the series where the timeline is the product. The reason nothing has worked is almost never the bottle. It is that no bottle has been given eight weeks.

  1. Week 1–2Less tight after washingThe hour after a wash stops being the worst hour of your day. The lather is smaller than you are used to, which is the sulphate-free base doing its job.
  2. Week 3–6The week you would normally give upSomewhere in here is the point where you would previously have bought something else. Do not. A barrier that took years to strip does not rebuild in a fortnight.
  3. Week 8The week to judge itWe scan you again and put week one and week eight side by side. This is the first time most people in this situation have ever had an answer rather than a feeling.
  4. Month 3–6It stays settled, while you leave it aloneComfort holds as long as the routine does not change every month. Hot water and switching bottles are the two things most likely to undo it, and neither of them is a product problem.
The Sensitive routine

Step one of three.

The shampoo cleans without stripping. The conditioner keeps the lengths soft while the scalp settles. The tonic is on the scalp between washes, which is where a barrier actually rebuilds. Used alone it still helps. Used together it is a system.

Not sure this is the right one?

Guessing is expensive. Your first treatment is $59 and it opens with an AI scan of your scalp, so the next thing you buy is the one you actually need.

Before you buy

Questions we get asked

No, and we would rather you heard that here than found it on the ingredient list. It contains fragrance, lavandin oil and mint oil. This is a soothing formula, not a hypoallergenic one, and no product Dr Scalp makes is fragrance-free.

If you have a diagnosed contact allergy, we cannot promise you that, and we are not going to. Book the scan or speak to a dermatologist first. Reacting to a specific ingredient and having a scalp that has been stripped are two different problems, and only one of them is ours.

Possibly it would not. What is different is that we ask for eight weeks and then measure it, which almost certainly nothing you have bought before has done. Most people in your position have never given one product long enough to find out.

Yes. Use lukewarm water rather than hot, which will do more for a tight scalp than any change of shampoo.

No sulphates. Lather is a sulphate effect rather than a cleaning one, and sulphates are the part most likely to leave a stripped scalp feeling worse. Less foam, same clean.

From your account, or one message to either studio. No minimum term, no cancellation fee.

Give us at least 48 hours before your next delivery is due. Inside that window the parcel is usually already packed, so it goes out as it is and the change applies from the order after.

It helps, and on a scalp that has been stripped for years changing the wash is the first thing to fix. The tonic is what stays on between washes, so the pair does more than either alone.

Come and talk to us rather than quietly giving up. Eight weeks is the fair test, and a free scalp scan at either studio will show whether the scalp is moving or whether you are simply on the wrong bottle — if it is the wrong one, we will put you on the right one. And if you are holding something unopened, you can exchange it within 14 days of purchase for another product, or a treatment, of equal or higher value.
